Building Equal Partnerships

Marisa Twahirwa

Marisa is an Engagement Manager in IT consulting with a background in Business Economics. Born in Germany to a German mother and a Rwandan father, she spent much of her childhood in Schleswig-Holstein before moving to Berlin, where she began her journey in both anti-discrimination work and business studies. As a co-founder of the African Descent Group, she has been actively involved in anti-discrimination efforts for over a decade, focusing on people of African descent. A strong advocate for intersectional feminism, Marisa promotes Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the tech industry, particularly in Berlin, and also serves as an Associate Manager at Netlight.


Building Equal Partnerships
Marisa will talk about equal partnerships between African startups and European companies, moving away from top-down approaches. She stresses the crucial role that people of African descent in Europe play in bridging gaps, given their insights into Africa's diverse markets and innovations, as well as cultural differences. Valuing their expertise is key to creating strong, mutually beneficial collaborations.

Pascal Murasira

Pascal Murasira, a Rwandan-Dutch business leader, has played a pivotal role in transforming an abandoned school in Kigali into Africa’s largest startup campus. With over a decade of experience in African entrepreneurship, Pascal is dedicated to attracting more resources and support for entrepreneurs across the continent. He is the Founding Partner of Africa Cities Fund, which focuses on creating entrepreneurship hubs in African cities. Previously, he was the Managing Director of Norrsken East Africa, where he was involved in real estate investment, asset management, events, stakeholder collaboration, and building a thriving entrepreneurship ecosystem in Rwanda. His work has been featured in Forbes, CNN, BBC, TechCrunch, and Financieele Dagblad.

Clemens Mulokozi

Clemens, having spent part of his childhood in Tanzania, embodies the transformative power of connecting cultures to drive social change. With over 30 years of experience in sports, business, and social development, he founded Jambo Bukoba in 2008, developing an evidence-based approach to using sports for education, health, and gender equality in Tanzania. His work, in collaboration with the German Sport University Cologne, has impacted over 500,000 children and trained more than 2,000 teachers. Clemens has received several honors, including the Ashoka Fellowship and the Startsocial Federal Award from former German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel. Now, he focuses on keynote speaking, workshops, and consulting, helping social organizations with strategy, fundraising, and innovation.

Clemens will share how living in two worlds – Europe and Africa – can become a powerful strength. Drawing from his experience building a successful social initiative in Tanzania, Clemens will explore how the African diaspora’s unique position enables the combination of the best of both worlds, fostering innovative solutions that neither culture could achieve alone. He will speak authentically about creating measurable social impact in African education, building and scaling projects in Tanzania, overcoming local implementation challenges, and the power of cross-cultural collaboration.
