Bridging Languages: Developing Bilingual Embedding Models for Real-World Applications

Text embeddings are a way to turn text into a form that computers can understand, essentially converting text into a series of numbers, so that similar words have similar representations, making it easier for machines to recognize relationships and meanings in language. We trained bilingual text embedding models and published our German-English bilingual model in January 2024. In this talk we will cover the data preparation, training details and procedure, and how this model can be used in the real world. More specifically, we show how our bilingual model integrates with Llamaindex in a hands-on demo of a RAG pipeline.
